Cool LS/ T56 Chevelle Cross member w/ flipped tab

Hello, Ed here! Working on my LS/ T56 swapped 1967 Chevelle. Can someone please be so kind as to post a photo of their modified OEM transmission cross member with the tab flipped and rewelded of the rest of us?

I read about people doing this but a photo would be great.

Ed, I didn't flip mine but I did move it down. Take a look at my build thread (post #49). Just click the link in my signature.

Not my picture, but look at post #23, here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...l#post19423738

Mine looks similar. Basically, just make it flush after you flip it. Take an angle measurement after install to make sure it's still okay. I spent too much time thinking about this until I did it and realized there is no use over-thinking it. Surprisingly simple and accurate.

The above is what mine looks like, more or less.

over thinking it.... story of my life.
One question, how did you set the angle if a car is up on jack stands (backyard build)

You can use 2 sets of matching car ramps or build some wheel cribbing out of 2x4s for pretty cheap. Pretty much anything that will keep all 4 wheels level and high enough for you to work under (safely!).

Used to set my tires down on 15 x 8 Corvette rallys when I only needed a bit of extra room under the car, and didn't want to bother with jack stands,

Re: LS/ T56 Chevelle Cross member w/ flipped tab

Thanks Greenbrier! very clear photos. Tab is flush with the bottom, got it.

What is throwing me off is the position of my engine. I was able to install my LS without tunnel surgery (67' Chevelle). I used the low/ wide mounts. My engine sits low and tight to the firewall, just clears the holley pan, etc.
This will differ when setting the trans 2 degrees down (i think) arrrgh, oh well i'll give it the old college try and report back
