'64 El Camino turn sig switch adjustment

I have replaced the turn signal switch on my '64 El Camino w/tilt wheel. This is the switch that is mounted on the outside of the lower steering column and is operated with a cable. My problem is getting it adjusted to operate properly in all steering wheel positions. By this I mean both brake lights and all turn signals. There are actually two adjustments. One where the cable housing attaches to the switch mounting bracket and a second being the slots where the bracket mounts to the steering column. My shop manual does not cover this switch. Has anyone out there been through this adjustment procedure? All input will be appreciated. Thanks

That sounds like an aftermarket switch. In my 64 El Camino the t/s switch is under the steering wheel with the handle coming out of the upper housing on the left of the column.

Re: '64 El Camino turn sig switch adjustment

As I said in my original post, my El Camino has the factory tilt steering wheel. Yours is obviously the standard wheel. Thanks for posting anyway.
