1966 chevelle malibu

on my 1966 chevelle question is on the vent tube that runs threw the floor of the trunk to the venting on the gas tank.i know the long part goes to the tank what do you do with the short one do i put a peice of hose on ot and leave like that or do i put something on the end of it? it seems like something is supposed to go on the end of it to keep from getting water or dirt dobbers or bugs in there!please help

There is nothing that goes on the short end. It has to vent the gas tank.

On Chevelles be sure to use non vented gas cap as you are aware of they have the vent tube, however on El Caminos, use the vented cap as they have no vent tube. I found out the hard way. Clyde

Is that the small pipe that comes through the trunk floor on the passenger side, makes a loop and goes back down?
