Re: How loud should an electric fuel pump be??

I ordered one of the Edelbrock Quiet Flow pumps. The shop I bought it from said they are much quieter than the Holley ones (Edelbrock says 4 - 14 db quieter). Once I get it installed, I will let you know if it made a difference.

Re: How loud should an electric fuel pump be??

I run a holley blue without a return style reg... I had a really bad vibration from it pretty annoying, mine was mounted on a piece of angle iron off the bottom of the trunk ... I made a isolator set up by sandwhiching the angle iron with some shock asorber bushings I cut in half on either side of the angle iron . works great cut vibration 50% I'd say . Much more live able now

Re: How loud should an electric fuel pump be??

I just switched the pump out for one of the Edelbrock 1791 Quiet Flow pumps. The reduction in sound is noticeable. I can hear the pump run, but not while I am driving (the Wysco pump could be heard no matter what). I will eventually have to relocate the pump, as its current mounting location makes it hang down a little too far (the base on the Edelbrock unit is different from the Wysco/Holley units, so it necessitated a little manipulation to get it in). But, being self regulated at 6.5 psi is great & the reduced noise is even better. I think these run just a little bit more than the Holley pumps, but the few extra dollars is worth it.

Re: How loud should an electric fuel pump be??

I have a carter street & strip pump and only notice it before i start the engine.I mounted mine right infront of the gas tank. I made a bracket and weldid it to the trunk floor. Not sure but having it in the middle might be helping.

Re: How loud should an electric fuel pump be??

I'm running this new Holley 125gph pump, 6.5-7psi internal reg. Cant hear it when motor is running, and I have pretty quiet muffs. I'm pretty happy so far.
