One of my 70s ,,The plug at the back of the radio was not TIGHT.--
When you get use to it,,, You can reach under the dash and push the PLUG in and never take your eyes off the road!---
I re/did the plug in area on the radios,,, Now both radios are just fine.

Re: radio cuts out on bumps

If it is one speaker and then the other then it almost has to be a loose connection like Bob said. I don't remember how many plugs are on the back of the radio. The AM/8track out of my car is sitting on the shelf in my garage. I can take a look tonight but it really doesn't matter. You need to get under there and push the connectors in all the way.

If it was a power or a ground issue the entire radio would be cutting on and off so I doubt it is that.

Re: radio cuts out on bumps

Just an afterthought. The head itself could be loose as well. With something that old, it probably needs rebuilding. The pinch roller belt has to be on it's last legs!

Now if I could just find someone to rebuild my Muntz 4 & 8 track player. The 8 track repair guys won't touch it.
