spare tire

This is not a Chevelle question. I have a 2007 Mustang GT and need to replace the temp spare tire. Where can I find one?

Re: spare tire

The Ford parts counter at your local dealer can help though it won't be cheap. Probably $150-ish.

Re: spare tire

I went through this on my ZL1 Camaro.
GT cars did not come with spare tires. Came with an inflator kit? and goop? to seal the tire.

Re: spare tire

Best place for spare tires is craigslist (get creative on searches) and Junkyards, like a u-pull-and-pay.
I got a complete spare kit for my dad's Kia Soul (turbo model without spare) for $35 including all trunk accessories, foam, jack, tools, mount, even the screw in tow hook. Someone was selling parts off a wrecked one.
Search for parts cars/dismantling type of ads. Also learn up on alternate donor cars, and what diameter spare fits over your front brakes.
With a mustang, maybe a Charger/Challenger spare would work, same bolt pattern still?

Re: spare tire

They don't make the temp spare tire size anymore. Going to the junk yard is out of the question, why would I want a 8-12y/o spare. Going to the dealer... the counter guy had that deer in the headlights look.

This is the route I'm going to take. Mount a cheap tire on the temp spare steel rim. The tire well dimensions in the trunk are 27.125 diameter x 8.75 deep. The current spare tire size is a T185/60r17, 7.28 section width x 25.74 diameter, the steel rim is 7" wide. The stock tire is a P235/55r17, 9.25 section width, 27.18 diameter, it won't fit. The tire I'll go with is a P215/55r17, 8.46 section width, 26.32 diameter. Should fit nicely @ around $70 out the door.

Re: spare tire

Try it first. It may not fit over the Brembo brakes.

Re: spare tire

Had to buy a rim the steel rim off the spare was only 4" deep. Bought a cheap aluminum wheel after going through 5 of them before finding one that was actually round, 17x7 and a cheap p215/55r17 tire. Discount tire does not sell just 5 fricken lugnuts, had to buy a set of 20 for $45, that sucked. Stay away from discount tires Vision wheels.

Oh and thanks to our sponsor for answering my post.
