Thank for the tips , we will deal with this issue after the race / test , for now we will just use the manual switch fan mode

Re: El Camino - strip car build :)

As long as it left, stopped and steered good and you were able to drive it on the trailer at the end of the day it was a good first test.

Re: El Camino - strip car build :)

EVERYTHING WENT GREAT ENGINE IS AMAZING ...CAR IS WORKING WELL

I never drove the car until that moment , i was quiet anxious a very cautious , we did a first test pass , i just left off idle footbraking the car , left the shifter in D , so i left in automatic , and saw the car lifting the front going straight so i kept the pedal down and we did a first pass 10.90 at 122mph, we had the rev limiter set at 6600 so we hit the free limiter before the finish line , wow i was so happy , 2 pass was already a qualifying pass for the race , we had 40 cars in our bracket class from 8.99 to 11.99...
i moved the limiter to 6800 and my next dial in was 10.80 we we hit it to the 000 so i was top qualifier until eliminations sunday morning , 60 ft are not so great in the 1.5x range but the car was still lifting the tires and transferring weight, which was the thing i was most worried about.

Re: El Camino - strip car build :)

On the saturday we had 4 more qualifyng passes , so i wanted to practice my shifting , actually i m really bad , i have no ear for automatic yet ... so different from the manual i was used to ,. also i tried to understand how much rpm i can go up at the starting line foot braking... not that much i guess cause the car leaped forward and redlighetd .
i left in 2 and shifted the car in 3rd .. the car every pass is faster and by saturday my best et is 10.72 @ 125 mph , 60ft always 1,56

Re: El Camino - strip car build :)

The car nick name is El Gato Negro Aka Black Cat ...it brough good luck at the moment hahaha

On Sunday at eliminations i had a bye run so i did my pass in D and concentrated only at not going red i dialed in a 10.66 to be on the safe side and did all my runs in D ...car was consisted in the 10.70

So slowly slowly beating everyone... i was in the final , real nervous so i changed my dial in to 10.69 , i also made the mistake of moving the limiter to 7000 ( as the previous passes it would hit the limiter before crossimg the line) i have 28x10 hoosier bias ply slicks w 4.10 gear

So i lost the final , but i ran my best et [email protected] mph and did a breakout
Should of kept the 10.66 !!! Fxxk

Thanks Mark for the amazing engine !!!!!!! I will make it run to the full potential soon i hope

This is my friend who built the car with me !

IT WAS AN AMAZING WEEKEND !!!!! SO HAPPY , We will be back in september faster than ever !!!
