Re: new best with turbo ls nova.

and here is the car.

the only draw back to the e85 is the fuel system but efi pumps are fairly cheap for e85. I run a single aem 380 and it works great for $135.00.

Re: new best with turbo ls nova.

I have a single 15" black magic fan and sence that pic I swapped to a aluminum radiator. unless I sit in traffic it never even needs the fan on. with the smooth idle cam at 700 rpm the tight 3000 stall and 3.23 gears it really drives like a stock 307 powerglide nova. im only 2400 rpm at 60 mph or so. with the e85 I still run the 190 t-state to keep any moisture out of the oil and that is where it seems to stay.

the drivability of it is so much better than my old 406 solid lifter ,4000 stall,3.73 combo its hard to believe it runs more than a second faster.

You also need more fuel system to handle the extra volume. But there's no denying the benefits of it.

Supposedly you only need up to e50 to get 90% of the benefits e85 provides so that is nice in the sense you don't need as much fuel system and probably better mileage. Gotta tune for it though! Tuning window is large with this e85 which I really like.
Do it. E85 is expanding (at least in my area) and you are correct about the 50% blend to get most of the benefit. It's rare to see it that low around here but it exists (Speedway is the lowest). There are plenty of carb builders that can get you a close baseline on E85. A lot of blow through guys are using it. Another bonus is it smells way better than the typical pump gas.

Fortunately I'm running EFI and all I need to do is by a ethanol sensor and the efi should adjust accordingly. Just a little more reading up to do. Probably could just fill up with e85 for race day and run regular fuel the rest of the time!!!

Re: new best with turbo ls nova.

you can set up two tunes and switch that way. but I just changed my required fuel from 14.7 to 9.8 in my tunerstudio and pour in the e85.it is the closest gas station to me so I will just run it all the time. so far I have been happy with the change over.

Congratulations Mike on the great runs, your car is a true sleeper. It would be fun to get it to a better track someday and see just how fast it really could be.
How much better did the Pro`s drive on the big end ?

Congrats again,

Re: new best with turbo ls nova.

thanks.
the pro's are nice and stable on the big end but im still working on the launch. where my old bias were like a controlled spin at launch the pro's are ether dead hooked or spinning. but I was a bit surprised at how well they worked with my suspension. I did a shock change and a slapper bar adjustment and I think it will get a 10.0 or very high 9 if I can get a good launch.

the pro's feel better as far as rolling resistance enuff that you can feel it .

you get everything working good on the chevelle? haven't heard from you guys in a while.

Man that is really cool. Been tempted for years to do it. MY drivetrain is already built for it....TH400/GV OD...tight 10" converter....3.50 gear. Main thing is time and the car being down. Plus I really like the looks of the BBC under the hood. Its a tough choice no doubt.
