Finally got to a 1/4 track with the procharger

Went to Gateway last night with the Oldsmobile. Was a nice night and it was the first time getting it out to 1/4 track with the new valve train and freshening. Had a great time.

Best pass was
1.54 60'
6.51/108
10.17/133

Overall pretty happy. Several things that I took from the night is the 60' wasn't as good as it was when I went to the 1/8th mile track earlier this year, I am sure track played a key role. I pulled a 1.42 (6.40 1/8th) at the other track, if I can get back there then I think that would be my 9.99 pass but who knows. I added some timing and it slowed down so I believe that it still wants more fuel but I want to creep up on this thing without adding to much. Going to do some logging and try to add some more fuel and timing and try it again before drag week. Best part of it the night was the drive home from the track.

Set up is
383
cast steel crank and 5.7 rod
trw flat top piston
comp hydraulic roller cam
ls7 lifters
afr 190 heads (yes these are really old)
victor jr
750 blow thru

D1 procharger
8 lbs of boost 4.25 upper pulley
e85 no cooler

350 turbo ptc converter
3.90 gear with 275s 8" rim

Full exhaust, filter, just like I drive it all the time on the street

30* timing
-9ngk's at .028

What did the static compression work out to? What would be the most boost you could run with 92 octane pump gas on the street?

Re: Finally got to a 1/4 track with the procharger

Im on pump e85 (test 80% last night out of the bowl), its readily available here and just over $3 a gallon so I love it. Not sure on static compression this is just a hack around car so i am tickled that it goes this fast. I know it is decked, flat top piston, 64cc head and comectic head gaskets I believe .041 thick? So in the 10-10.5:1 range is my best guess. I would guess with an intercooler it would be ok on pump I just never felt the need to try it.

That is nice performance for a drive around small block. I have watched your gains on the other car so I am guessing this will do even better yet over time.

What are the cam specs have same blower on 350 and whats the difference between the ls7 lifters and the GM stock roller lifters. Did you do the carb or have someone build it for you.

Re: Finally got to a 1/4 track with the procharger

The gm ls7 lifters are actually a direct replacement for the l98 lifter through gm. There have been discussion on here about them lasting on a camshaft like this but the old l98 lifters lasted several years for me. They definitely have a better rpm capability as I was running in the upper 6's through the traps, although i feel it would be better suited with less gear. However, my block is a late model hydraulic roller block so thats why they work with it vs. running a retro fit. Of course I would love to run a set of Morel lifters but the budget was a limiting factor for me and I get good prices on GM parts because I work at a dealership.

The carb was worked by my friend Tim at Ultimate Speed and Machine.

I'll pm you the cam specs

Re: Finally got to a 1/4 track with the procharger

What type front springs do you run on your cutty Ross. I need some on mine and don't no where to start.. I got trick springs and I hate the fronts and want to go a inch lower than the trick rear springs.. The fronts sag way to much..
