Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?

Re: Drag Only Chevelle Build

Well we made it to thunder valley, 6.39 first pass, still not rpming like it should, go back for second time trial notice that its only idling at 1000 just before burn out box instead of 15-16, wack throttle couple times, no change and a very slight hesitation, I just figure I didn't push in the "lean out"cable soon enough, it'll clear up, do burn out, pre stage, stage, launch, for about 30 feet and it falls on its face and dies, pull over and try crank again, no start, get towed back to pit, pull front end off and us and some buddys are "lookin" at it, talk it over a little and decide to see if a fuel issue or ignition, four some fuel down its throat and crank it and it starts and dies, OK, its a fuel issue, pull line off of barrel valve and crank engine, NO fuel, dry as a bone, crack suction line off of pump a couple rounds and fuel pours out, crank again and make sure shaft on fuel pump is turning, it is, so only thing we think could be is maybe sheared key on one of the internal gears, waiting till tomorrow to talk with James before I open it up, maybe something else, and don't want to loose warrantee if there is one, might order a new one and keep this one, after it is repaired for spare, don't know yet, could have been the reason the little small block would not spin as fast as it should have, don't know yet, time will tell.
AND, we had one video of the aborted run, we tried to edit it just a few minutes ago as it was 9 minutes long, well we edited it rite out of existence , so the go pro is also a learning curve.
Gonna try and get a pump on this thing and find somewhere to make a few more runs this coming weekend, first points race of the so far rained out season is two weeks away, IF IT doesn't get rained out also.
Stay tuned folks, that's not all !!!!!

Re: Drag Only Chevelle Build

Talked with James Monroe from Killer Rons today and after we talked for a while he says check and make sure pump did not back out of pump drive, and I'm like, huh?, come to find out the pump which I thought was one piece and a mount bracket is actually, pump, pump drive, and mount bracket, and sure enough it had backed out of the drive about 3/8-1/2", and it only engages about 1/4', took longer to get the front end off than it did to fix it,......... loosen lock bolt, push pump back into drive, tighten the s**t out of lock bolt, done, crank engine about 3 seconds and its rumblin'. Live and learn, wish I and some others would have known about the drive on Saturday, but that's racin'. Now we just might have to go to the motorplex at Ennis Tx, this weekend, not sure yet, wife not thrilled about a 2.5-3 hour drive, but need to make a few more passes before Memorial Day. Yippie eye aye cow pattie !!

Re: Drag Only Chevelle Build

Well no passes this past weekend, well went bad so we were diggin' ditches and laying water line to get hooked up on rual water, no more well water , smells a little like bleach, but that's better than the funky smell it had when it went bad, we've been totin' drinking water for about 4 months, finally got a meter set a week ago, all good now I guess.
On to the performance part, we are going to run at Ardmore dragway this Friday through Sunday, if it doesn't rain us out again. Fingers crossed

Re: Drag Only Chevelle Build

Well it didn't rain us out and we ran all three days, no new best as we left the tune as it was as this was a points race, best for the weekend was a 6.31 in the heat and humidity, which, should have slowed down but ran .07 FASTER than it should have, more to come on that PLUS we got a few vids which I will try to post later

Re: Drag Only Chevelle Build

Went a few rounds this weekend, very few, light kept turning red for some reason, still got more tuning to do, here's a couple of slips, (NA) from the weekend. Still working on videos, AND, today we forgot to get the camera out of the car before we loaded it
