345NP pistons

Anyone know a source for these pistons?

Seems Jegs and Summit are not listing them in the catalog.

Re: 345NP pistons

Yep, that is the line. I was looking them up to put in that vortec thread and saw they only list them for 30 over.

Im curious of they are still listing them for standard bore. They are not listing them if you type in the previous part number of 844-345np.

Thats not it.

The ones I listed were about 12 to 15 bucks a piece and were cast.

Re: 345NP pistons

Why would they want to stop making them.

They are good and popular!

Re: 345NP pistons

that ZH345ACP they sure talk it up in the description..
I like the fact that they are cut for floating pin also...
Wonder what the weight of those are?
Be nice if they would make a cheap one like that with the thinner ring packs.

I bet the reason to stop the production of the old 345np was the bad rap they probably got when they quit making them here in the USA..
those looked like crap if you seen any of them...the tops had changed also..
more and more people going to the Hyper pistons...

Marketing hype if you ask me..kind of like fluiddamper ballancers..
lot of marketing..but terrible thing for your crankshaft...

I am not saying hypers are terrible ..but detonation and hypers sure do not get along.

So run the hypers and learn to tune basically...
If you are smart enough to replace pistons you should be smart enough to keep the engine out of detonation...

Re: 345NP pistons

Jeff

I talked to Summit and they dont have anymore of them...discontinued.

They had changed the part number to the one I listed earlier.

http://www.summitracing.com/search?keyword=z345np&dds=1

This is the replace they are offering.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-17350-00

They also said these were replacements

Re: 345NP pistons

They have one P/N that cover 3 different pistons, The new ones are appox 70 grams lighter and the crank should be balanced.

The new P/N is H345ACP which is a hyper, skirt coated and accepts locks for flaoting pins, I think they run me 9.50 a piece.

They are lighter as well so balancing is a must.
