cam and rocker arms

looking at 268/280 with 515/520 lift can stock bbc 402 rockers handle the lift it had 272 crane cam in it when i got it not sure if the last owner changed springs and rockers. how long is stock slots these rockers are .708 to . 710 its first bbc build for me

Stock springs/rockers are usually only good for around .500 or so. I would run some "911" comp springs, replace the rotators with eliminators if it has them, and and run "long slot" rockers(most have an L cast into them). Elgin makes a nice inexpensive set, I believe you can get them from Competition Products. Also, just to be safe, you should check piston/valve clearance. It's probably OK, but better safe than.....well you know.

.515/.520 lift will be just fine with stock rocker arms.
the Crane 272 you mentioned that was previously in the motor has .515 lift
