Great combo. Looking forward to following along!
Think I will end up at 10:1 exact, want it to safely run on 91 octane since you never know how long 93 octane will be avaible........

Not sure it will be dynoed, have thought about it though.

Are you going to drill the deck for the extra cooling holes? Should be a fun engine.

Nope, thought about it but have never drilled them before when they are missing and never noticed any problems with correct head gaskets. Maybe stupid not doing it but will try my luck again. Going with 1027 felpro gaskets.

Re: Backyard 460 BBC build

That sounds like a very nice build Marcus, I also used the felpro 1027 gaskets for my race rites, did you look in to Autotec/Racetec pistons?

Love that bare, natural cast iron, freshly machined block. Plenty of us are using SRP pistons just fine.

I drilled mine. I think it helped cooling. It’s easy to do and I don’t think there’s a downside.

Re: Backyard 460 BBC build

Started to mock some parts up.
Oil pump to pan 1/4” without gasket going to clay it later and have two spots of tig weld added.

Deburred oil holes in rods and removed all sharp edges on piston valve reliefs and domes.
Washed with water and soap.

Mounted pistons to rods.

Re: Backyard 460 BBC build

Cam is in and spins nice.

Mounted the cvr oil filter adapter.

Took my dremel and made a chamfer in the cam thrust plate so it cleares the tabs in the torrington bearing, will check so the thrust centers and still cleares the tabs when I degrees tha cam.

Next step is to check main clearances and crank endplay.
Hope I have time tomorrow to continue.

Re: Backyard 460 BBC build

Looks like a nice combo in the works. A little off topic, but I'm curious what a gallon (liter) of premium gas cost over there in Sweden?
