What do you guys think?

Pulled intake off of the 489. Pics attached of what I found on the walls of some the intake ports. Gaskets are Fel-Pro Printoseal with a thin smear of black RTV around the water ports on head side of gasket. Nothing used anywhere else.
Intake torqued to 30 lbs.
I have my thoughts - but asking for what do guys think this could be?

Re: What do you guys think?

Looks like intake surface either not sealing properly do to different angles or possibly pcv valve.

No on the E-85. Run a mix of 110 leaded with 10% ethanol 93 pump swirl at the track. 10.75 compression. 6,900 max rpm on a limiter.
Single plane Team G intake.

Re: What do you guys think?

The thing that I would be curious of is in the second picture the connector between the two lifters looks like it's cracked at the top.

I agree on the connector. I would use a different gasket.

Itís an optical dilution. Thatís a drop of water on the lifter bar. I agree though it does look cracked.

Engine doesnít smoke at all.
I had the valley oil returns machined about .050Ē deep and flat so the screens would sit flush. The screens are stainless steel. I think I bought 60 mesh. I epoxied in the screens and also a few magnets by the oil returns from the heads just in case.

This engine has BB2-Plus heads on it. Calls for a Fel-Pro 1252-3 if I remember right. Not so impressed with this gasket. It did fit really nice though. I only had to open up in between the intake runners a little. Rick, Did you use any gasket sealer?

Re: What do you guys think?

Looks like fuel drop out to me. Rough the ports up and that should go away.

Re: What do you guys think?

Not sure what you see that you think is a problem ? I see some pretty normal fuel deposits on the port walls, probably an area of lousy flow like 68 said in the post above. Put it back together and stop worrying

Re: What do you guys think?

Gerry I haven't put my intake on yet, still have to put #1 valve springs back on and adjust lifters, thinking of using High Tack on the int. side & Right Stuff on the china walls and a little on the gasket between heads & manifold, I already have the high tack but never used it before, guess I'm too late on the screen since mine's almost complete
