Greg,I'm on my fourth solid roller cam in this engine,and it runs smooth.
This will be my third set of Isky bushed lifters.
The first set I let go too long,probably well over 25,000 miles.
One wheel "De-laminated" and took out the # 5 exhaust cam lobe.
The current set has approximately 20,000 miles on them and I want to switch them out before anything happens to them.
Now I will have a set that I can send to Isky and have rebuilt and upgraded with the Helix option in the next year or two.

I cant answer your first question.I've never used or been interested in hydraulic lifters.
And yes I did dyno this engine.

Yep.
Very nice pieces.
Try living in Canada.This morning our dollar was only worth 0.66 cents against the US buck.
I dont want to even think about how much they ended up actually costing me in Canadian dollars.

That exchange rate sucks.
I bought a set from Mike awhile back, so you might want to add that receipt to the pile without looking at it.

Re: Pulled the trigger today ...

Yes, Helix are solid roller only. The HPX are hydraulic. Expensive? Yes, quite a bit more than the Morels I was looking at, quite a bit..... but itís one thing less to worry about. Unfortunately Iíve read far too many needle bearing failures to warrant putting them in my build. My oil will never get really dirty so thatís not going to be an issue.

Re: Pulled the trigger today ...

I emailed Richard Iskenderian about the benefits and longevity of the Helix optioned lifters and here is his reply;

"Hello Guy;
Thanks for being a loyal Isky Customer !

The Helix Bushing is designed for Supercharged, Turbocharged and/or High Spring Load Normally Aspirated Applications & Street Applications with a good amount of idling, to allow you to get extra oil to the bushing.

We have discontinued the EZX Bushing and only use the EZMAX and EZHELIX options now.

Unless your loads are extreme on the street ( over 900 lbs open ) , normally the EZMAX works just fine. There is nothing negative about using Helix on the street , especially if you want additional insurance. It may not be
totally necessary .

You should see some extra life on the street but it will depend on your open spring loads. I wouldn't say you
could double the life but expect somewhere between 25-50% more life on the street with the Helix.

Hope this information helps.

Regards;

Richard Iskenderian
Isky Cams"

So they are probably overkill for my application as my open spring load is under 700 lbs.
But,for me,the added insurance is just peace of mind for me.
The extra cost is pretty small when looking at the big picture.
If I can get up to 50 % more life from these lifters it is well worth it to me.
And at a later date I can send my current lifters for an upgrade to the Helix option.
Two sets should last me a very long time
Guy
