Crazy Davey coming home...

Glad to make a little announcement that we will be building a completely new engine for David Thompson, owner of Crazy Davey's old Chevelle. The old engine finally gave up the ghost and David contacted me last year about building a new one. He finally got with Chris and made the deal, so old parts are on their way and we will be starting on a new bullet, keeping as much to the old theme as possible. Davey always wanted that 8 second pass so we're going to make that happen. It will be a 532, keeping the 4" stroke and long rod combination, just with a bigger bore. Same deal; single four barrel, hyd roller, little compression, little more cylinder head. David is dedicated to Davey's memory and will be putting some of the old graphics back on the car and basically doing a tribute to Crazy Davey. I'm really honored that he asked me to do this. This was a pretty big deal for me back in the day and Davey was a really good friend and a pretty special guy as many of you know. Davey, I hope you're watching...here's to you, bud!

The last engine it had was one that Mark assembled. This new one will be from scratch except the heads and intake, and maybe the lifters.

Just curious what came apart in the old engine. Not for finger pointing but for real world data points on what a race engine goes through and that ANY part can fail no matter who made it or how much it cost.

Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?

Re: Crazy Davey coming home...

Davey's goal was always to get in the 8's with no power adders. We've always wanted to build a max effort 532CID. Hopefully we can deliver both and put a smile on Davey's Face.

Re: Crazy Davey coming home...

Can a car, the weight of a Chevelle, get into the 8's naturally aspirated?

Is Dal going to try to keep up?

It ran 9.0's on motor. Donnie Edmonds 1970 Chevelle has been 9.teens on motor at 3800# with a compression 565CID shaking the car down. It made north of 1000HP.

To paraphrase what Vortecpro says....Do the work, get the results.
