SB2.2 Nascar small block

Just got back from a estate sale. Picked up a PME SB2.2 complete nascar motor. Looks like a 184 Block and 12480011 heads. Anyone know the specs on these motors. From my research its worth some cash. Not sure what to do with it. Part, flip or run it.

Sure looks to have some sweet parts inside

This is a complete running engine. Sold completed auctions were around 8 to 9K. Not saying mine is worth that much. This has a dry sump with serpentine belt setup and MSD ignition. So pan to intake and clutch to water pump.

Chuck it in my '69. I think it would like the gears and converter.

Re: SB2.2 Nascar small block

Tom I bet that 307 surprises people with your cars trans/conv/gears when you tell'em it's a 307
Steve you could always buy a mid 50's Dodge truck (I had a 56) and drop it in that then you'll have all Big 3's covered

It probably would if it didn't have several burned valves! Right now I can't give it more than half throttle without it sneezing uncontrollably out of both ends.

Yea that would work well and be a blast. Might throw it on the dyno and see what numbers it will make.

Re: SB2.2 Nascar small block

The R07 architecture replaced the SB2.2 in NASCAR competition in 2007.

The SB2.2 engines were used in many different racing series and on many different track sizes. Could be 500 HP to 900 HP depending on what it was built for and who built it.

In general, at 358 ci, plan on about a 8000+ RPM converter to make it run decent.

There is lots of SB2.2 stuff out there that has been "worked on" by the wrong hands and more importantly the wrong noggin.

Re: SB2.2 Nascar small block

427 ci SBC and slap those SB2.2 heads on it. Hopefully can still use the dry sump oiling system and accessories.

Looks like we are going to go thru the motor and drop it in my friends chassis fox body. Should be fun.
