PS Chris, you'd use that double-sided 3M tape used to put regular body emblems on? Can it take 160 degrees?
They come with that exact tape already on them ready to go.
So far,I have driven about 600 miles with them on my air cleaner and they are still there

Re: Gene's new MJ 468 up and running in Ol' Red

So the PCV vent tube on the drop base is interfering with the rear pump arm, will have to do some "clearancing" to make this "L79" look alike work. Wish I had some metal arms in lieu of the fat black plastic ones, but nothing crushing the tube wont remedy. An "engineered crush".

RTV will handle the heat and works like glue to hold those diecast emblems.

Great idea

That's another $100 to spend LOL

Beth, its such a "plain Jane" now, I thought the buck was worth it! As mr 4 speed said, they come adhesive backed.

Nice engine pic, Gene...that MJ looks right at home! Looking forward to some "performance tests", too!

These engines, being free of "clutter" , are truly beautiful as they came from the factory.

I don't like chrome unless it's original.

My engine will look just like yours, except for the ac compressor on the pass side. It's just too hot in Nashville to not have ac.

Re: Gene's new MJ 468 up and running in Ol' Red

AC is good south of the Mason Dixon line!

BTW, finally went WOT @ 40 mph last night, and as suspected, street tires are no contest. The kid tells me " the 427 never had that kind of power!" Yup! SMOKED 'EM at 40.

Secondly, you can keep this thing in 4th gear @ 1500 rpms and it wont buck. Unbeleivably smooth at low rpm. In fact, all this talk of 5 -6 speeds has me thinking. This MJ467 would easily pull enough TQ to move the Chevelle at 75-80 mph @ 1800 rpm.

And all that thru a big arse Holley 850 DP. Qjet will go back on soon.

I think the reality is, high rpm 427 rec port motors were great for what they were back in the day (they came from Corvette platform which was more road racing). But you are proving the point that a larger displacement oval port power plant with a reasonable cam and a more practical power range is just a lot better street package.

Re: Gene's new MJ 468 up and running in Ol' Red

I did want to find a tube chassis 64 Elky at a svelte 2100 lbs to put it in. WITH GEARS! Its going in a 4 door Ford drag car, with 5.13s, 4500 stall!

Ya, for sure, a big ol sled and 3.31final gears needs all of 600 ft lbs to motorvate it! I found this after driving mr 4 speeds ride with his old 454 in it. That's when I decided I'd have Mark Jones build one of his "port torque" mills for Old Red. That was a LONG time ago. Sturbridge show, 2010?

BTW, our 467 has fully ported 781s on it. I asked Mark to go all the way on them, even though it only a street / show car. . The EX ports barely get covered with the 2" primaries, I actually had to clearance a few after the mock up. ( and I was checking for flange/head bolt interference)

My 540 dreams have been satiated!

ONE MORE THANKS TO MARK JONES. what I ordered, but way more than expected. Can't wait for the spring and a track!
