i have a 502 30 over 509
solid roller cam
afr 305 heads
everything is new, made pulls on dyno.
i put on about 1000 miles ,was told ok to put syn oil in mobil 1 10w 40
its using a quart of oil about every 800 miles. Did my rings not seat?
Should i switch to regular oil ? tia
You need to do some basic troubleshooting first. Is the oil maybe getting sucked in through the pcv valve ? Intake gaskets ? Etc.
I have done several engines with synthetic oil in them from the get go. Not an issue if the cylinder walls were finished properly. Especially if it was started and broken in on the dyno.
If youre going to use Mobil use 15/50 it has more of the good stuff in it.
Personally I think youre throwing your $ away use some good dino oil/filter, up to you.
Not sure either is good nor bad
Add some heavy deceleration to the above 0-60 pulls. I would think the rings would have been seated in on the dyno. Do the mentioned trouble shooting first.
