L36 re-cam results.....

This is a .060" L36 with Qjet, factory low profile Corvette intake, stock rockers, and only a valve job to the heads. Has the Straub GTA 288-300 Hyd roller and a set of 5374 Morels in it. Nice flat powerband.....should work very well down in South America.....

Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?

Re: L36 re-cam results.....

Is that 14:1 compression correct?

My wife's Biscayne is L-36 equipped and I have that cam and lifters sitting on the shelf. Hmmmm?

No. It's a pump gas build right at 10 to 1. Dyno'd with BP93 Octane.

Re: L36 re-cam results.....

No sucky so good! ( PS the -40HP is a guesstimate from what I've heard on dynos with HEADERS, so thru manis is less dramatic ) So a better result than expected...

Re: L36 re-cam results.....

Good question Beth. I had been buying them from the local junk yard! One was a Holley-reman. Off the shelf, I dont know who I would trust, other than an EDEL knock ff of course.

Last one I bought was from Autozone and it was rebuilt by a shop in Florida that they source to. I paid $279 and I kept my core (it would have been $229)
I put in on my 1976 Corvette and other than adjusting the choke,it works flawlessly.

Re: L36 re-cam results.....

What am I missing here? There must be something pretty major as i did a search here before i had John do my 427 and i recall the same 427 l36 from 2015 making 469 horsepower and 510 torque on pump 91. This was just a cam change to hydraulic roller as well with just a catalog howards cam and same i think the same lifters. Reason i did the search was i was second guessing John on getting over 500 horsepower with the l36 heads and solid flat tappit cam. So is it the carburetor that is loosing 40 horses and 50 torque.

I can answer part of your question...
You are referring to this thread..
https://www.chevelles.com/forums/13-...90hp-dyno.html

The 469HP/510lbs was the observed power... on a -5F day with outside air coming in.
It was a negative correction that day, to 438HP/499lbs for the J607 correction of 60F, 29.92 Baro, 0% humidity.
All the photos seem to be missing in that thread, so it may be hard to follow.
