Re: Donnie Edmond's 3700# 69' all motor....

I watched this run on Facebook yesterday, very impressive. A full bodied/full weight Chevelle capable of running high 8s N/A is just mind blowing. Great work, guys! Congrats, Donnie!

Nice car. Reminds me of Rocky's blue 69 street car that ran at cayuga back 10 years ago. It ran 8.70 with the 498.

While we're waiting for the tire size, and gear ratio that Durand asked about above, how is the rear suspension setup?

Here you go sir:

Welcome to D&S Motorsport. The Home of Big Bertha, our 1969 Chevelle SS 396. She is a very solid all original panel car. She has had only 1 repaint in Dark Red Mica. She has a Extreme Automatics turbo 400 trans prepared by Lonnie Diers with a Griner Billet Pro Tree trans brake, and lots of Coan and EXA. billet aluminum goodies inside. An Ultimate Converter Concepts.llc 9 inch converter resides inside a full Reid Racing fully rollerized case that keeps everything from getting ugly just in case, and to keep NHRA happy.

Global West Drag Pack front suspension with a TRZ bump steer kit and TRZ Motorsports double adjustable upper and lower rear suspension, along with a TRZ anti roll bar, and a Chevy 12 bolt rear end full of Strange Engineering 35 spline Pro Race axles, Spool and c-clip eliminators with a Richmond 4.11 Pro Gear, and Strange Engineering disc brakes front and rear, Menscer Motorsports double adjustable shocks are on the front with GM conversion coil over front springs, and Afco Eliminator double adjustable shocks with QA1 variable rate springs on the rear.

The wheels are Sander Engineering. 15x8 with a 4 1/2" BS on the rear and 15x4 with a 1.7 BS on the front all wrapped in Mickey Thompson Tires 27.5x4x15 front and 29.5x10.5x15 Pro Bracket Radial slicks on the rear. The car has not been mini tubbed or cut in any way, other than the holes that had to be put in the floor for 10 point Moly cage install. No trimming. bending or cutting had to be done to fit the rear tires under the car.

The engine is a Naturally Aspirated Foxwell Motorsports 565 Inch BBC which consist of a Dart Big M block 4.600 bore. The heads are a custom set of AFR Magnums that have been worked over by Scott Foxwell. A Moroso enhanced 3 vane vacuum pump, Lemons Headers, coated by Power Shield Coatings feeding a Burns Stainless 4” exhaust with a custom built X-Pipe, and Flowmaster Top Ten race mufflers that dump at the rear axle. A Callies Dragon Slayer Crank 4.25 stoke, Oliver 6.385 Rods, Ross gas ported Pistons with 14.7 to 1 compression, Pro-Filer Sniper II Intake, a BRE 1250 CFM Dominator sitting on top of an HVH, Super Sucker 1 inch spacer. Harland Sharpe shaft mounted 1.7 roller rockers, The cam is a billet solid roller custom grind from Straub Technologies with a 7/4 swap riding on it are a set of Morel Black Momba roller lifters that activate a set Smith Bros. 7/16” push rods that open and shut REV 2.375/1.85 Titianium valves. All covered by a set of Biondo aluminum fabricated valve covers chromed by CRC. The engine makes around 1035 HP @ 7300 RPMs and 804 FPT @ 5600 RPMs, N/A. It has motivated Bertha down the 1320 @ 9.25 @ 144 MPH and 5.89 @ 117 in the 1/8. With a 1.32 60' Not too bad for 3700 lbs of steel.

Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?

Re: Donnie Edmond's 3700# 69' all motor....

Once sorted this car i think this can run 8.60 or 8.70. There was a thread about a 900 horsepower chevelle on here a while back that ran about what this car ran but last i saw the owner past on rip. I put this through the calculator and it is only showing 851 horses at 3700 since he is not hitting it fully. Nice work to all involved.

You bet Ricky! The Crazy D Chevelle was a legit 8 second ride. Heck, even the 11 to 1 CR Foxy/Straubie top end BBC that won drag weekend a couple of years back (best ET of 8.96) ONLY dynoed at 881HP. Must be something going on with the water down in Tennessee!
