Re: Converter = E.T. gain

should be interesting. I am going through converter vetting myself. I started running a 9" 4400 converter last year. Compared to the looser 10" 3600 I ran prior my 60' slowed down but other incrementals picked up. Now I'm trying an 8" 5500 my friend used to run but my car is unloading when I give it full power (open header). with my exhaust on it had the best 60' in 2500' DA with my current engine. the 8" must be a little too loose though the MPH is down and the trap rpm is up 600 rpm above the 9". I think it will be usefult for rocky mtn race week when my hp drops fromthe higher elevations but i plan to go back to the 9". I was going to start my own thread on it but thought I'd chime in here first.

Re: Converter = E.T. gain

Gary happy you have your New TC and that it will soon be installed .

I was in the same situation last month and took my 67 out to my go to Trany Guy
see my Thread https://www.chevelles.com/forums/33-...-my-th400.html

So the Trany was Rebuilt with a Reverse Manual VB and a New Shifter also installed into the 67’s old Console

A New 9.5" Race/Street 3,500 - 6500 Stall TC was ordered on May 14th from
Dynamic Converters / Pro-Formance Transmissions
and I sent a bunch of Spec Info to my Trany Guy and the TC Guy as you likely know this is a must
if you want to get a Torque Converter Built for how you are going to use it & based on detailed Spec Info

Got the car back on Tuesday June 11th and I am delighted how everything was done

Now to just get some good weather so I can take the 67 to see how much these changes affected the old girls times

Re: Converter = E.T. gain =Update

Went to the track for the first time this year with the new UCC converter, got a new best and the car did just what Lenny said it would " with my converter that car is going to be fast".. I installed it in June but with weather and work this is the first time out, New best everywhere. I did install PBR radials ( they work great ) also and took 70lbs. out of the car last winter, but I credit 99% of this gain to Lenny and his converter... Did zero tuning yesterday so I'm thinking theres more ET to be found.. thanks, Gary

4:30 gears... I hoping with some more timing it might gain some more in the 60', still have it turned down to 36 degrees from last time out when no matter what I did I couldn't get it to hook.. Previous best was with 38 degrees, tried 40 3 times before and it just blew the tires off.. So in my mind if it hooks at 40 it might gain or not.. How's that nova doing ? thanks, Gary

Thanks for asking, the last 3 events have been canceled for weather. today is in jeopardy as a make up and there is one this Saturday but I may have a family event conflict. not to mention the prep may not be there. talk of a gambler race and street tire thing.

The big news is that I installed an NX hitman kit. if the time allowed I'd try 100 - 150- 200 shots. I have a controller to ramp from 20% - to full in the first 4 seconds by .5 second increments. not sure I'd have time to max out each power level with 3 race dates. plan to read plugs and make judgement call. I just want a single digit ET in 2019.

Hope you get to try the bottle, I think a single digit with what ever you hit it with will be no problem. Keep us poted when you make it out..
