I can see the lock up being an advantage on long trips, should keep trans temps much lower. For what I'm doing with it, I'd have been better off the other way Hard to be upset with my choice as it's working well but it's the nature of a car guy to always want more performance....

Re: Taking it to the track

Looks like a well thought out combo. Pueblo's track is usually pretty good hope do do some testing there in the next few weeks

Re: Taking it to the track

PMP has a good track and the price for race and tnt is not bad when compared to other tracks, for the service. even the food is good for the price.

I'm kicking around the idea of a 4L80e swap myself.... Then I could run a lot more stall speed and lock it up top...and cruise at 1500 on the highway...

The OP's cam is the same as mine, but judging how mine acts now, I don't think it would like being locked up below 1900...

With any luck I'll be able to drive down and watch the event. If you need anything (assistance, shop space to fix stuff, etc...) I'm east of Colorado Springs, let me know.

I myself would like to see the converter loosened up a bit before you make that trans change.

What would be the benefit of loosening the converter?

Yeah I'm curious too..but it drives so nice the way it is, I hate to rock the boat. I'd also hate to spend $800 for a converter that I wouldn't leave in it, other then for track use. No doubt, it would pick up a ton of ET.

I do have a couple of other things planned to change before I head back to the track in the winter.

I figure the 4l80 could slow the car down from the weight gain and spinning more mass, but I also could put a real converter in it and still lock it on the street. All in all, it would probably be a wash on ET gains though. My old 4l60 in my other car had a billet 9.5" that would flash to 5200 rpms, yet drove normal on the street, it was nice.

My torque converter is really tight, it only flashes to about 3400 rpms.... I need at least another 1000 rpm worth of flash stall speed to help the car leave.

What crazy is mine even with no lock up runs very cool. Never gets hot no matter what I do. But would love something that flashes 4500 but is locked up on the freeway!!

I also am really digging the Pro Flo XT intake. Do you have any pis of it on your motor? How was the port alignment with the AFR 315's(I have them as well). Thanks!

Yep Im digging them too. Mine would not like a locked up 1900...more like 2200.
