I don't know about the throttle shafts. The spring is the same one I was using with my Speed Demon.

When it is idleing fast, move the throttle up & down vertically & see if the speed changes. Does it do this with both carbs?

I had noticed it doing it with the Speed Demon before I took it off. I am going to double check the return spring tomorrow and possibly put a different one on. I created a new post in the engine section looking for recommendations on a return spring bracket/setup.
