Next time you go to Gulf Shores bring your car! Between Atmore, Mobile (US90 Dragway), Emerald Coast dragway, and Gulfport, thereís almost always a race. Bad part for me is that all are 2+ hours from here except Gulfport (about an hour-hour 15).
No doubt I was in crappy air- but still this thing is down on power.

Chris- Next cam is coming from you. Might just take the rest of the year off anyway, poor ol car needs some paint and body attention.
2500 DA I feel for you, thats horrible.

Well turns out had to run bracket race to get another pass..ran my buddy Phillip, we both dialed 11.41 lol he tree’d the snot out of me and won the pedalfest. Our plan was to lift at the 1/8th so I did get a good 1/8th pass in.
Almost a carbon copy of the first pass.
Sho is slo, but it is still sho nuff fun!

HAHAhaha...that’s the ONLY quarter mile race left anywhere down here that I know of. Man it sounds so strange to see a car keep on going after the 1/8th!!
I’ve got to get the “evil” outta the front end!! It used to drive 1/4 a lot lot better. Car kind of wanted to start wandering about 1000 feet out. Gotta check everything out up front but I think I know what’s wrong.
Right at the 1/8th mile, the “dud” starts sounding veeery happy and pulling like crazy. It’s a lot of fun but it would be a lot MORE fun if that can be moved to the front half of the track...and after I check out the front end.
The “dud” has great manners, don’t run hot, great oil pressure, no leaks, cranks up great, and even looks pretty darn good. Just needs a brain transplant! It’s kind of like a really hot chick that’s just super crazy-if you can get past the crazy it’s a lot of fun!!
126 is equal to or better than the fastest mph this chevelle has been.

Re: New 496 Build

From the looks of your overall numbers it looks like the engine is asking for a looser converter. I have been wrong before but if someone in your racing group had one you could try and only have work invested I think it would be worthwhile. If it goes faster you learn something, if it slow down you learn something, if it runs the same that leads to a lot of head scratching and confusion.

There’s two ways to look at it, I think.
Agree 110% this cam needs 800-1000 rpm more stall (5200 now).
But if you look at the flow numbers of a bb-2+, it’s all but done a little past .700 lift.
Current stick is .799..
So, my belief is that while a looser converter would most definitely help, a smaller cam would help a lot more- if the heads are done at .700, why waste the extra lift? Something along the lines of [email protected], .715-.730 gross lift is more in line with the combination. Then, see if the converter will work as is, if not it will have to get loosened up.
What do you guys think? Faulty logic lol??

A "Brain Transplant", camshaft, will make it work.

Why is it we never have time or money to do it the right way in the beginning but we always have time and money to do it over again?
