Re: What do you think of these heads?

Where does it say anything about him being and engine builder (that would offer a warranty)? Building a big block - yes but an engine builder as his business? Funny what people read after numerous posts.

Re: What do you think of these heads?

the ad says never used, one of the spark plug holes has a time sert or something in it.
I wouldnt risk them. You can get new castings for $300 and build yourself but even then its a huge risk.

Re: What do you think of these heads?

just my 2 cents... for 500 bucks I would get them. the hardware/new springs are worth almost that much. I get so tired of the whole Chinese head crap. never had a problem with ANY offshore casting. in all fairness, I do not install anything without did-assembling, measuring, inspecting, and cleaning. new or used, cheap or expensive!

The very first words of the OP's initial post says it's a local engine builder. Warranty might not be the best term, but I'd at least want the sale conditional on the heads checking out at a neutral shop.

Like you infer, people will interpret things as however they want, but to me an "engine builder" is someone that gets paid and is not some hack bolting a pile of parts together in their garage in their free time. However, in some cases, it's the same thing.
