Questions Windshield Antenna

My 69 is presently getting painted. I am replacing the original windshield with one that has the antenna in it. I know the 69 never was offered with that option but my car has no other antenna. I actually bought the new windshield about ten years ago. Both of my questions are installation related. First question involves the lead which connects the windshield pigtail to the radio. I have that lead and know where it gets installed. My car does have the cutout that permits that lead to be installed. Is there any reason that lead could not be installed after the new windshield is installed? Or does the lead need to be installed first? Secondly, I read an older post that said when a windshield with an antenna is installed that installation tape instead of the butyl/adhesive is to be used on 1st three inches on both sides of the pigtail. This was stated the tape is needed to allow for proper reception/ non interference with the signal. Anyone have experience either way?

Re: Questions Windshield Antenna

On my 68 I put the antenna lead in after the windshield was installed. There were no provisions in 68 for the windshield antenna so that's why I did it after.

I user a foam dam and modern urethane for adhesive 100% around the perimeter
