Difference between 4 door and 2 door windshield

I was wondering if any one knows what the difference between a 4 door and a 2 door windshield would be. I have a 1968 project that I am working on..the windshield that came with the project is about a half inch to big in height. Don't know for sure if that is even the right shield for it..the curve of the windshield is right, but it is to big for the opening. I have seen in parts catalogues windshields for 4 doors and 2 doors..but cannot find any dimensions on them. The top dash and cowl panel were replaced....trying to figure out if an error was made there..or if the windshield is wrong itself. This whole project seems to have been thrown together from various parts of different cars by the previous owner....I measured the opening and it seems like I need a windshield that is about 22 1/2" in height. If anybody knows demensions off hand..or the difference between the two..that would be awesome. Thanks!!

A new windshield at your local auto glass shop is 150-200 very cheap in the grand scheme of things. Go buy a brand new one that's clean and correct for your car

A 2 door is a hard top and a 4 door is a sedan. This is why a chevelle windshield doesn't fit el camino...in 67 anyway

68 - 72 wagon/4 door are the same. Mine measures 23" top to bottom in the center. 68-72 2 door and El Camino use the same size glass and are about an inch shorter and the convertible is a size all its own.

Here is a 4 door (hardtop) windshield sitting on one of my 2 doors. Pay no mind to the mess inside.

Re: Difference between 4 door and 2 door windshield

AFAIK all the 68 - 72 4 doors used the same windshield. Thanks for the measurement on the convertible Dean. Wasn't sure of the size on that one.

That's half right.

A '66-67 2 door sedan has the same windshield as a 4 door sedan, 4 door HT, Wagon, & El Camino.
