Chrome Bumpers

Does anyone straighten and rechrome bumpers anymore ? If anyone knows of a place let me know. I hate the thought of repop bumpers as my only choice. I live in Nor. Calif. the closer the better.
Thanks , Gene

Gene, I have seen several ads on Craigslist from what i believe is a body shop in San Jose. They have had several front and rear bumpers from various years for sale, stating they are oem bumpers that have been rechromed. Maybe contact someone in the ad and ask them if they could do yours. The only other info i have is for The Bumper Shop in Los Angeles 800-831-4421. Terry

Re: Chrome Bumpers

Is the bumper boyz still a thing? Back in the day they had all oem rechromes.

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

Tri City Plating in Elizabethton, TN is one of if not the best. Do a search here on them and you'll hear from many very satisfied customers.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming: "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!"

Re: Chrome Bumpers

Verns just east of LAX in Gardena. Did beautiful work on my GTO rear bumper and vent window frames.

One of the few 'Old School' platers left in California

I have a AMD front bumper on my car and it is perfect in everyway. Beyond my expectations. I bought a rear bumper from Jegs (Restoparts) and the workmanship is poor and the chrome is not very good at all. Funny thing is the AMD was much cheaper. Check out my garage

If you want, you could do what I did. I bought a beautiful OE straightened and rechromed bumper from Tri-City plating and then just kept my original bumper just in case. Hell, by the time you pay to ship it to them, you're not getting too much back for your core charge.

Re: Chrome Bumpers

I went to Tri City in Elizabethton, out back of their shop is a sea of bumpers. I dropped off 2 to be done and 2 cores. The shipped them back to me within a couple of weeks. If you guys have old bumpers and are coming thru TN on I-81, they will buy them from you. Need to keep the old metal around, the new stuff is garbage.
