Finally.......Color!

After an extended period of life happening and some old fashioned procrastination, I finally shot some base on the 67 today. I'm painting outside, so I've got some insects in it that need sanded out before the final base coat. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I hope to have her cleared by day's end

Looking good! Hope the bugs stay away when clearing. Takes a bit longer to harden. Whats the color?

Looks great so far. Good luck on the clear.

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

Good job for doing it yourself. I'm curious with it that tall on the jig, how did you spray the top? Did you stand on a step ladder or something?

Very nice X2 on the bugs staying away. I had a large mosquito after the 1st coat that was between the base and clear on a lower quarter a few years ago. Tried getting it out but finally said the heck with it. No one ever noticed...

Looks like a rotisserie, just turn it where you want it.

Things like that would always ,no pun intended, bug me, because I know its there. Good for you it was down low. Imagine if it was in the middle of the door! When I used to clear motorcycle parts in the home garage, I would set two fans at the door on high speed, to help pull out the fumes, but mostly to keep a force against any flying intruders.

Re: Finally.......Color!

Congrats Randy for passing a milestone.

A little story on painting outdoors. A neighbor of mine has a nice 68 Chevelle.
Several years ago he was painting the entire car in his driveway. It turned out very good but he said right in the middle of shooting the color and his next door neighbor came out and cut his grass.

The body is on a rotisserie so I can move it to where I'm spraying. The car will get a vinyl top so I'm not wasting color and clear on the roof. The roof has 4 coats of gray epoxy, I figure I'll be dead and gone before the roof gives any problems.
