Fender Extension Nuts...

I am need of one fender extension nuts for my 71. The extension was rattling, so I took the nut off and tried to 'tighten' it up a bit (basically bent the center of the nut in a bit). Now I can't get it to go back on (I tightened it too much). Does anyone sell these nuts without them being in a kit with several other pieces?? Let me know. Thanks.

Very nice of you John!

If you ever need more, your local napa has a catalog with all the fasteners vacuum sealed to pages that you can look through to find a match. Normally they're in bags on a carousel somewhere in the store.

I actually threaded the posts on my 72 fender extensions and use washers and lock nuts to secure it.

Re: Fender Extension Nuts...

Is there a way to make sure that these stay tight?? I have never had good luck with them (I had to change out the driver side fender extension, because one of the studs broke off - not from me tightening, but just from being too loose for too long).

Re: Fender Extension Nuts...

On one of my previous Chevelles they were so damaged they wouldn't stay tight. I cut the stud off and drilled and tapped it. Worked like a charm and kept them tight

I just had mine off and back on. I had a couple that were broke off too. I drilled and tapped the holes and used 1" long set screws, JB Welded in the holes, then used regular nuts & fender washers. I also used some 3M Strip Caulk under the washers to seal the holes and 'lock' the nuts. My tail lights were dim so I pulled them off to paint the bulb reflector area with 'chrome' spray paint. It made a huge difference in brightness.

Re: Fender Extension Nuts...

I received the nuts today. I used one and it threaded right on. Thanks again.
