Window Roller Guide Replacement

As I had suspected the rear quarter window in my 68 needs to have at least one of the rollers replaced. I found a piece (I think just part not all of it) in the door and the window is most certainly off the vertical track. My question is this, I believe there are 3 rollers in the rear quarter, one vertical and two horizonal (correct me if I am wrong), are they all the same type or are they different sizes? Also if I'm going to take the time to pull the whole window assembly out should I just replace the whole roller unit or is it fine to just replace the actual plastic roller? Per the ecklers links below looks like it's only about $5 extra for the whole roller assembly. Also included a picture I snapped of the window rollers.

Roller only: https://www.ecklerschevelle.com/chev...ower-1968.html

Whole assembly: https://www.ecklerschevelle.com/chev...1968-1972.html

Thanks!

Re: Window Roller Guide Replacement

Actually did my 68 convertible a couple years ago, same exact thing. The rollers are a little different, and I found that one of them was not reproduced - believe it was the lowest one if I remember correctly - not sure without seeing it out of the car. I ended up finding the correct roller reproduced for camaros. Did a LOT of internet searching. It came with a new rivet, and it compresses easily with some common sense installation.

I wanted to keep the original assembly as much as I could.

Re: Window Roller Guide Replacement

Just replaced 6 rollers on my 64 they are a little different, however the placement on the window sash I believe will be close to the same. Do a youtube search for installation, took only about 30 min to do all of mine. Might do a search for rollers as well the links seem a little pricey. All six of mine were $40

Re: Window Roller Guide Replacement

The "Help" line of products at your local parts store has a 3 pack of rollers. One of these 3 might match the specific roller you need. I needed the peen type for my 70 and 1 was in the pack. It fixed mine

Re: Window Roller Guide Replacement

So the cheapest I found them was here:

https://restorationpartssource.com/s...r-details.html

I re-inspected the window and it appeared just the one roller (that's clearly broken in the picture) was all that really needed to be replaced. The main one that runs down the actual channel, the other two the roll on the outside of the channel seemed to still be in good condition. My plan is to pull the window, replace the broken one and just clean up/lubricate the other two and hopefully she will be back in good working order.

Thanks all!!
