Sorry to say I maybe in the market for a different hood.

Any thoughts or repo vs aftermarket.

Re: How good or Bad are the repo 66 Malibu hoods?

IF you can find an original GM/Chevy hood THAT would be the obvious first choice.

Second would be a quality aftermarket. I've always liked AMD's products, however I just got a Cowl Hood for my '69 and must say that the QC from the factory in Taiwan is less than spectacular. In AMD's defence I should point out that the hood I bought was not an actual AMD designed product -- it was a brand called Tri-Plus that AMD feels is the best one available.

Looking at AMD's catalogue, I see that the only two they have (one an SS hood and the other a Cowl Hood) for a '66 are also made by Tri-Plus.

Hood - SS Style - 66 Chevelle El Camino Hood | Triplus X300-3466-1

Hopefully another member can comment on the other brands available.

I'd hunt long and hard for oem before buying repop. There are a few on CL local here.
I will say that whichever way you go, you'll have to work the hood head to toe to make them nice.

I would think a decent malibu hood should become available
if you have the patience to wait it out and ask around.
