Trunk opening braces - which way do they go?

Replaced my quarters a while ago and forgot which way these trunk opening braces are oriented. Each one has has a notch cut out toward one end. Does the notch go toward the front of the car or towards the back? A picture would be greatly appreciated showing how far forward or back the brace is attached. Thanks so much.

Just to make my question more clear, I think the pieces I’m asking about are called the trunk weatherstripping channel. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter which way they go as the seem to fit either way. But given the choice of putting back the way it came from the factory I’d rather go that route. Tried a google search but none of the pics show which way they are oriented.

Thanks.

Sorry to be a pest but got no responses to a pretty easy question. Any 66-67 owners know which way these channels are oriented?

Thanks

I just went out and looked at my 1967 and mine does not have notches. My car is and all original Canadian built Chevelle with 4,500 original miles.

If it’s just a question of where the notches should be and they’ll fit either way, cut a similar notch in the opposite end at the same distance from the end. Weld them in.

4,500 original miles?! That’s impressive. Maybe cars were built slightly differently at different factories. Pretty sure these notches were factory and I suspect were a relief cut to allow a slight bend in the channel.
Mine also appears to have been a combination of welded and brazed in. Does that sound like something the factory did? It ought to make it a bit interesting when I try to weld it back in. I staggered my holes a bit off the original spot welds so that I hopefully don’t get a brass spot that I need to try to weld to.

Thanks for the response 67ss4spd via instant message. For the benefit of anyone looking for the answer in the future, response I got was notched are oriented toward the rear of the car.
