Quarter window chrome liner?

Well I am finally starting to get back into working on my Chevelle. I met someone, got married, changed jobs and moved across the country, was stuck in a tiny rental for a couple years, and finally bought a house with a nice garage (which I had to spend the last 8 months fixing up).

I am stuck where I left off: I pulled the vertical chrome pieces off that fit between the side windows. I have replaced the rubber piece, but seem to be missing something. It appears the chrome has a channel far wider than the window. From what I can tell there was originally a thin piece of felt, rubber, or similar that lined it to provide a snug fit. Where can I find this or what can I do as an alternative?

Re: Quarter window chrome liner?

I used some of that cloth electrical tape - if I recall it took 2 or 3 layers on the window edge to hold the chrome trim. The tape is sticky on both sides, so I haven't had any problems with it moving around. Any tape that sticks out beyond the chrome can easily be trimmed off as it will "peel" down the grain of the tape.

Re: Quarter window chrome liner?

They make a rubber type of material for that, I know I bought it from Ground Up some years ago. But like mentioned you could use some type of cloth tape.

That was it! I managed to get it on last night.

Now the wife will have to find something different to point out as wrong/broken/missing.
