65 chevelle headlight buckets

hey doing frame up on 65 chevelle and now can't get headlights to sit level. They seem to go up on the outside edges.Using original frame body, fenders, radiator support and it all fit good before tear down.Put new body mounts in and already trimmed them down at firewall but still seems fenders are to high in front but door gaps are nice?

If they're similar to '66, they don't fit universally in each hole - each bucket goes in a specific hole, otherwise they are cattywampus.

David is right. They do go into specific hole. They are also numbered. I can't tell you what number off the top of my head but if they don't look right, switch them around. I can't tell from the pictures exactly what your talking about.

Re: 65 chevelle headlight buckets

the 65 chevelle has headlight boxes or brackets that mount to the radiator support and they are sitting at slight angle. They also bolt to the fender lip on the front

Re: 65 chevelle headlight buckets

Are you aware that if you turn the adjuster screws you can move the headlights a long way in any direction (L, R, up or down) ?

Re: 65 chevelle headlight buckets

They are left and right specific. Maybe you have them mounted backwards? But if they are lining up with the holes in the fenders (which appears to be the case in your picture, where the large Philips head screws are), then probably not.

Re: 65 chevelle headlight buckets

No all the bolts line up but the fenders in general have to come down on the outside otherwise the headlight bezels and eyebrow mouldings will tilt slightly upward on outside. But with that being said gaps door to fender are good??When I push down I can get fender down but then bulges out slightly behind tire.
