Re: Finally out of paint jail.

Jim,
3 months turn around is excellent. You made the right choice by going with a restoration shop. I had to learn the hard way. Originally took my car for a repaint to a collision shop. It sat tnere for 8 months with about 6-8 hours of work being done in that entire 8 months. Yanked it from there and took it to a restoration shop and they did a mild frame off in 4 months and I was tickled pink with the results.
Anyone reading this thread and considering getting a paint job on a classic car might be wise to heed the following, DO NOT TAKE A CLASSIC CAR TO A COLLISION SHOP FOR PAINT OR RESTORATION WORK. Unless you want some frustration and love getting excuses why no work is done on your car.

I don't think it would be fair to disclose the price that I paid on a public forum, but I will say this, It wasn't cheap.
Obviously, each car will be different as to the amount of work that needs to be done so the cost will vary, but the shop that I used charges 75.00 an hour for labor.so it adds up fast. One thing they did was let me buy all the parts myself so there would be no markup.

Car looks great Jim. Iíve seen it in person and I consider myself a pretty good judge of quality. The body work and paint are spot on!

Bill I would highly recommend these guys.
It's probably a two or three hour drive for you but it might be worth it. The owner of the shop will give you weeky updates on progress with photos and phone calls which is nice.
If you do decide to come down this way, you are welcome to stop by my house and look at my car to see if meets the standards you want for your car.
