The Heavy Duty Emission trucks and motorhomes in the 1980's did not have any electronic stuff on the carburetor other than the electric choke. The electronic carbs were on 1981 and later autos and 1983 and later Light Duty Emission trucks with California Emissions. The early 1980's Federal Light Duty Emission trucks had the Electronic Spark Control (ESC) Distributors combined with a solenoid in the float bowl of the carb that when the engine temp went above 170* it would open and 1/2 of the fuel pushed by the accelerator pump was diverted back to the float bowl. If you unplugged the solenoid the accelerator pump acted like any other Q-Jet.
