1970 Chevelle Trunk Emblem Install - bottom peg holes - drill through

Hi Guy,

I am going to finally install my 1970 Chevelle Emblem on my trunk lid. My car is painted and done, so, I have been procrastinating to do it. A couple of questions:

1. To get the Chevelle Emblem into the right location on my trunk lid, the bottom pegs of the 1970 Chevelle trunk lid have to be completely drilled through. Then, the peg nuts would go on the underside of the hood and you can see them. The rest of the pegs can go in with barrel nuts with no drill though the bottom layer of the hood. Is this correct ?

2. I plan to completely mask off the area, mark the holes, use a light punch, then drill, then, paint the inside of the holes before the installation of the two bottom peg nuts and the barrel nuts for the other pegs.

Does this sound correct ? Thanks in advance for any advice.
