You can get some really "stellar" pics of those things with an 80mm or a 102mm apo refractor and if your mount can handle a 5" SCT, you can reuse it. For visual, my C8 is right there with my 10" dob, but the most breathtaking views I've had was with my 127mm ES ED triplet. It shows lattice structure in the Orion nebula, and color on Saturn and Jupiter. It's pretty big though once set up on an AVX mount. Most nights I sit out with an 80mm Barska Magnus apo or an Orion 120ST F5 acro on an ES Twilight 1 mount and just wander the sky. The best telescope is the one you use most, and small light weight scopes are a lot easier to set up and use more frequently IMO.
