Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

Hello folks,
Does anyone know if a 68-72 short bed Chevy pick up is longer or shorter than a 72 Chevellle?
TIA,

Honey, its not a $200 hat. The distributor was $200, the hat came with it. kevin d

Re: Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

68 Short box is 188.5" bumper to bumper

72 Chevelle is 197.5 bumper to bumper

So the Chevelle has it beat by 9"

Re: Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

I'm adding a 68 Chevy short step side to my companion my 68 Chevelle.
It was loaded this morning. Leaving Florida for Illinois.

Re: Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

my girlfriend's 64 CHevey stepside short box- which is built on the same frame as a 68-72- is about as long overall as my 99 Saturn SL1 beater... it looks like someone cut 5 feet off it when it's parked next to my 97 K1500 extended cab long box..

I noticed that too. I'm not sure, unfortunately that was a pic of getting loaded in Florida this morning. I'm in the snow in Illinois.
Flashed, I'm on the 67-72 board too.

Wayne, this one is a 6 with a 3 on the tree too.
I'm not sure about factory bumpers.
I did buy new '88 Chevy Sport Side, and a rear bumper was an option.

Re: Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

Is there a good website for these trucks? I am considering selling the Chevelle and buying a truck.

Re: Short bed Chevy longer or shorter?

Like I said in my post I had 4 67/72 Chevy trucks.. 3 of the 4 had the parallel rear spring option. If I were in the market that would be #1 look for on my list.... there great for towing . 2nd is a learned lesion. One icy morning on the way to work .... just filled the tank with Sunoco 260 a guy slides through a stop sign, I steer corrected but fool locked up and COMMING out into the t intersection.
Hit me right in the rear wheel . .sending me sideways in to a guardrail.. the Rear G 70 15 climbs the guardrail and I was sliding on it's steel track... suspending the back tires off the ground , telephone/utility pole closing the distant FAST . It slams the car corner and the bed side at the seam at the Drivers door I grab the steering wheel and Hurst shifter.... Bam THAT VARY UNIGUE sound.. We came to rest truck still in gear
454 Screaming with a stuck throttle, I try to get out but my seat belt holding me in place I then notice me feet WET .... You guessed it, The pole punched the fuel tank filler neck and cap inside the truck and opened the seam of the Fuel tank.... I was ankle deep in Sunoco 260 with a pegged revving big block which was now flouting the lifters .I Don't remember GETTING OUT OF THE CAB just reaching in the open hood side and ripping the wire's out of the HEI dist. Now id did something I am not proud of ( The truck was a Super Cheyanne 0 tow tone hugger orange/white black gut, I just finished the truck that early FALL .
I went over and started in the startled driver..... The Whitehall Police came out of know wear and drug me away .....
My nest two truck Builds Had 74 ish between the frame rail tanks and fender flap door fills also my street Rod 38 Chevrolet coup I did a sedan rear frame rail. rank and Hagen fender door fill NO more ever tanks inside the CAB
