2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock - 807 HP...

If Dodge would get serious about making these cars lose weight, they could be even quicker.

Moderators - Once again, I am unable to post articles from CNET. Please look into this issue, as it is beyond annoying. It says that the link contains 'inappropriate content', which is completely untrue.

These are fast, but don’t expect Dodge to make significant changes to make them much quicker, once a car runs 9’s or 135mph the party is over. At that point if a particular car reaches either of those performance milestones the game changes, NHRA will then require a certified cage, competition license, full fire suit and a bunch of smaller things. There are already street cars that fall into that range, a guy at the local track has a new Nissan GT-R which runs 10.50’s at 134/135, under optimal conditions it has run over 135, he’s been told if it runs that fast again not to bring it back.

These cars most likely want run as fast as magazines suggest. Demons are a regular sight, most run 12’s to start, the quickest I’ve seen one run is mid-10’s.

Dodge gets it, Camaro is still trying to go in circles which is why it is third in sales in the muscle car category.

Saftey weighs a lot. There is just so much you can shave off the car before it no longer passes crash tests.

Pretty amazing, that these cars have been around since when - late summer 2007? And with minimal changes to exterior appearance. GM seemed to fiddle with the Camaro every couple of years. Tail lights especially. All these cars are way out my price range, am concentrating on paying off a mortgage.

Challengers are based on a charger/300 chassis is why they weigh a ton. errr 2 tons

my neighbor has a demon and a 71 440 6 pack challenger. Ive never seen the old skool one next to a new skool one. The new ones are HUGE. they look bigger than the old one

...yeah but... I'd still take a Camaro before a Challenger anytime... but that's me. Even if I'm not a Mopar guy, I would see my girlfriend in a Charger as a daily driver

On paper, I like the Camaro. In reality, I don't fit in a Camaro. The roof is too squished to have a comfortable driving position. I sat in a 2010 when they first came out, my head was touching the roof unless reclined too far to be comfortable and the car had huge blind spots. Don't know if the newer ones are any better, I doubt it. Also the back seat is about useless in the Camaro and the Mustang. Unless the driver is less than 5' tall, nobody can sit back there. The Challenger is still functional for hauling more than 2 people at least. If I were to buy a "new" muscle car, it would be a Challenger, probably an SRT 392 car.
