Yeah I still like a nicely done primer-ed hot rod but the whole P.O.S., thrown together, purposely junk cars are dumb. I always hated the name rat rod too.

Re: Well, it was a 1959 El Camino...

I think it would be interesting to put it on the block at Barret Jackson and see who would bid on such a thing and how much money it would bring.
I totally dislike it.
Maybe it could be a donor car for a better project.

Re: Well, it was a 1959 El Camino...

In 1958, all across corporate GM, the designers lost their minds----------------and continued through 1960.
In 61, they began to improve on designs. By 1962, the power trains began to compensate for not so great designs. For example, in 1962, the 409/4sp cars sorta made up for weak designs as well as the 421 SD Pontiacs.
Cars like 60s Chevelles, GTOs, 442s, Corvettes had a return to some good styling.
I do not care how you shake it, you just cannot beat a nice, clean 60s-72 Chevelle. PERIOD! And GTOs and 442s are hard to beat.

Fords? Mopars? NOPE!

I could own a GENUINE HEMI car, but not a 440 6Pack.
I could own something like this all day long, and not be embarrassed to be seen in public!

Re: Well, it was a 1959 El Camino...

Not my taste but I don’t build my car to please anyone but me. I love the 59-60 bodies, personally would have left it closer to stock with some subtle tasteful mods but that’s my style.
