Re: C8 Corvette VS Dodge Demon...

This type of “race” doesn’t mean much. It’s an unprepared surface and enough gravel that you can see the Challenger spitting out rocks on the slow motion launch. There is also no video to see if one car left before the other, there are also no time slips which show incrementals or MPH. It makes for a great YouTube video which will draw eyes and make them money, but that’s about it. They are right, Hellcat and Demon Challenger’s are notoriously hard to launch. It’s common for their ET improve by 1 1/2 to 2 seconds as the driver figures out how to launch them.

Re: C8 Corvette VS Dodge Demon...

So this vid has the demon on the type of track it was built for. When do we get to see the vid of these two on the track the C8 was built for?

Re: C8 Corvette VS Dodge Demon...

What is the point of a drag race between a vehicle with 495HP vs 800HP

Re: C8 Corvette VS Dodge Demon...

They wanted to get it out of the way before the Z06 and ZR1 comes out, because there is no way the top of the line Dodge would beat either of them.

You are 100% correct. There is a guy who started running his Demon at our local track a couple years ago. New car, driver had never been down a race track in his life. He started out nervously spinning his way to high 12's. After a lot of practice he is down to low 10's at around 130 m.p.h. A couple tweaked Hellcats are just as quick as the Demon or a bit quicker. Experienced drivers though make a big difference.

"No Prep" racing has gotten hugely popular in the heads-up street car circles (as has "roll racing" from the wannabe clowns)

Bracket racers aren't the target demographics for this video.

There is no “no prep” racing in this area, unless you consider grudge night at a local track. But, that’s because the track manager doesn’t respect the participants enough to spend the money on traction compound, other than the first 60ft, and scraping the starting line.

I have a friend that does track prep at several local tracks and NHRA divisional races. Guys that do prep stay in contact with each other to see what chemicals and techniques work best based on type of class, tire compounds and size. He was contemplating flying back east to a couple of no-prep races since one of the local tracks was thinking of running a couple of events. He said the notion that these tracks have no work done to them is a lie, they are worked on, just less and differently than a normal race. The narrative is BS, just like Street Outlaws are actually street racing.

x2 good question. Anyway IMP neither one of those plastic looking cars look as good as a Chevelle does, but as far as looks alone goes, I'd pick the Demon over the Vette any day. Even though the Challenger doesn't look as good as an early 70's Challenger does, it still looks much better than the fugly vette does. That looks like something Luke Skywalker would be driving.

Probably about 700-800 pounds favoring the Corvette. The Dodge I think is like 4,300 pounds while the C8 I think is in the 3,500-3,600 pound zone. I thought I read 3,540 somewhere.
