awhile back a coworker cleaning his yard offered me a pair of 71 mustangs notchbacks. 1 had the naca hood, 429 sitting in the bay. the other was a stock 351 car that sat for years, next to his 67 428 fastback which wasn't for sale. but for $600 for the pair it was probably a decent deal if I liked the body style which at that time I didn't.
So today I see a white 71 couple and thought wow what a nice car! And I wished I would have picked up the pair. jim
When I was a kid I used to watch Route 66 the show that got me interested in Corvettes. Back then they were driving maybe a 61 or 62 Corvette. When they changed the body style in 63 I thought they ruined the car. Who knew today I think the 63 to 67 era Corvettes were the best looking Corvettes ever built. I guess that's why I was lucky enough to own 3 of that era over the years.
Ron, I just thought they were ugly then, the naca hood was probaby worth a few bucks, 15 years ago I passed on a 67 fastback roller with a trailer for $1000 because I wasn't into mustangs and really wasn't into flipping stuff like I am today. If I had the same deal on those 3, this post would have read "ever buy a car you didn't like to make money?" jim
I never liked the 71-73 mustang notchbacks but thought the fastbacks looked good, I had a 70 Mach 1 351C & 4 spd (wish I still had it) $600 for a pair of 71 notchbacks I probably would have drug them home and lost $ LOL
Same here, the Sprotsroofs are awesome....the notchbacks, not so much....I'd consider them just parts cars for a wrecked Sportsroof repair. I could go for a Convertible tho', that's the only "notch" I'd consider keeping.
I feel the same about any year Mustangs tho'. Fastbacks only for me.
The Hatchback Mustang II's are growing on me ever since i saw one locally Pro-Streeted with all the Cobra package spoilers and window slats on it....it looked bad azz.
Cars were cheap way back in the 80's.
I got a 73 Mustang for 200 bucks.
The 74-78 mustangs could be had for free many times if you hauled them off I got 2 of them.
Got a 69 mustang for 1500..1 owner and all original and looked great still shiny paint.
Datsun Z cars could be bought for 200 and less. Great driving ones.
I thought the 1994 Dodge truck was ugly..It was the first year for the new body style.
I like them now.
I liked the Gremlin. No love for the Pacer to this day though. It is still ugly.
In the fall of '95 I bought a brand new '96 1500 short bed, single cab, 318 cid V8, 5 speed manual, A/C, manual windows/locks, sliding rear window, plain factory AM/FM stero, and "ralley wheels" (stainless trim ring and chrome center cap) which was an option betwwen their popular chrome rims and the plain old painted rim. I had to special order this configuration because the dealers were either carrying total "no option" trucks or "fully loaded" models.
This was the first new vehicle I ever bought. I got it with 18 miles on the OD and have over 250,000 miles on it now almost 25 years later. Still rust and accident free.
I just bought a good running '04 dodge diesel 2wd high mileage for 2 grand. Needs an a/c condenser and the metal part of the bumper, new carpet, and the blower fan fixed. Gonna flip the hell out of that one...
A friend has a 71-73 ragtop project he's selling but no title and too much rust IMO, plus I think he wants a couple grand, I didn't pay any attention if it had an engine or not :grin2:
I wonder what ford did to the 351C between 70 to 73, mine ran real strong with only headers added, or maybe just one heck of a strong running Toyota truck
Yes, mine. I never liked post cars and never liked full size "boats" (B-Body).
In 2003 I had a BBC in my garage and was searching for a decent condition, decently priced, Chevelle to put it in. One weekend my co-worker drive his 2-door '65 Biscayne to a work bbq/car show. I looked it over and jokingly made an offer and he said "Sure"... and I said "uhhhh :surprise:.... well... okay then?"
Absolutely love it and never plan to part with it. Lots of unique features on the '65 model year, spacious engine bay, spacious trunk, rides like a dream (in a straight line), and with a front/rear bench seat 6 comfortably to boot!
Back in the 70's I had a poster of a '70 red/black LS6 on the wall in my bedroom. Crazy to think they were less than 10 years old back then. I still want a Chevelle but will have to live vicariously through all the members here and enjoy my boat in the meantime.
When the 70 Camaro and Firebird came out I didn't like them. I loved the 67-69s and the 70 was nothing like them and the change was too radical for my 12 year old mind. Within a year or so I came around to love the second gen F body. Now they are among my favorites.
When Chevy went to the "cat eye" front end on the trucks in 2003, I thought they were the ugliest truck ever. Now I own a 2006 and love it. I still prefer the GMC front end though.
