Preparing to move, finally!

Been trying to get out of Illinois for a while now. It's finally happening. Been selling off my hoard. It saddens me a lot of it went to derby drivers but I can't move it all. Headed to Tennessee in three weeks. If only I could get the appraisal done on our house here, and this virus scare would go away....

Re: Preparing to move, finally!

So many folks are heading to Tennessee. It's like the Carolina's now. I wonder if the locals like it. I'm from NY and some friends who moved to South Carolina told me that their reception was much better once they started telling people they were from New Hampshire. NY has a bad reputation due to the city.

We've been down there 4-5 times house hunting and doing interviews. I haven't noticed any attitude or negativity. We're going to Buchanan, many houses around Kentucky lake are seasonal and a lot of people are from Hellinois. Our realtor says about 90% of his clients are illinoisans. I turned down a job in Chattanooga last year. They wanted me there in two weeks and housing was too expensive.

Re: Preparing to move, finally!

Our oldest daughter use to live in Clarksville and she loved it but ended up moving to Murray Ky. for her work, CVS, she loves it there too. Beautiful countryside and very nice people (mostly) and a lot less expensive to live than Fl., more bang for your buck.

I'll be working at Pella in Murray Kentucky. Was trying to find something in Tennessee (no state income tax) but so far unsuccessful.

Re: Preparing to move, finally!

We have no problem with people moving here just leave your politics and taxation where you came from. Many transplants from other states don't like some things because " that is not the way (enter state name) does it, you all need to change." If you have that attitude we can show you interstate to go on to take you home.

Re: Preparing to move, finally!

AZ was like that..moved to Tuscon in 99 to retire...people were friendly unless you told them y ou were from Ca then watch out.

Kick myself for ever coming back, had the world by the shorthairs back then.
Moving to a new state is fun, complete change of scenery youll come alive.
