I suppose not all crew cab elcos are on the same level..... There are nice ones and ones that aren't so nice. I think that read 59/60 is kinda cool with the "extended cab".

Tossed in a couple hacked up one for you guys to drool over....

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

'70 Buick 2-door sedan shell
'68-69 Chevelle door skins and lower quarter panels
'70 Malibu rear bumper & valance
'70 El Camino/wagon front clip
'70 300 base model interior
'70 LT-1/M22
Forrest Green / green interior

result would be a '70 Chevelle 2dr sedan with the smooth sided look like the wagon and el camino and the hottest SB that never made its way to the Chevelle lineup.

Done right, it would be a head-scratcher for people trying to figure out what all "isn't right" about it.

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

A black 66 Malibu or SS with a 454 and a TKO, like the one in my driveway except with the body repaired, black paint and the 454 from the shed installed in front of the TKO.

Coming right after the windshield flange repair on my 82 Mustang.....

66 Malibu Coupe, home rebuilt 350. Took me 39 years to get her!

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

I would start with a 66, body drop it over a Morrison chassis, angle section the body from zero at the rear tail light panel to 2” at the middle of the front wheel well and chop the top by 2”. Then I would raise the rear wheel well by 1”, raise the front rear well 2” to line up the front of the rear well with the rear. I would add an inch of height to the front bumper.
The hope would be to have it look so close to stock that a non-Chevelle person wouldn’t notice and a Chevelle person would scratch their heads as to how the car got so low.

66 Chevelle hardtop - LFX 3.6 liter V6/6L50 6 speed auto trans, 3.07 10 bolt, full Hotchkis suspension, Wilwood 4 wheel discs, white with red interior, cowl hood.

For me I would like to build a 66 four door hard top with factory AC and Corvette spec L79 and four speed. interior I would use factory buckets and console with all the options. that would be a fun family car. second would be a 65 convertible with a corvette 65 fuel injection 327/375. A car GM should have built
Plane Jane 65 or 66 with a high winding 327 and a 4 speed.

That red white and blue G-body would look great without those quad rear wheels.Try to picture that one with normal 4 wheels and it has some looks to it.

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

The problem is ( that they didn't know how to fix) was where to put the wheelwell. Imo.
In order for that to work you probably need to shorten the elco bed.
It looks like one wheel is the factory 4 door location and the other wheel is the factory El Camino location.
the wheel well needs to be somewhere in the middle of those two and somehow keep the proportions right. Probably fixing the wheel well arch in the back passenger doors and shortening the elco bed some to make it all work correctly.
It's something that a fellow would need an eye for sure. And I'm not sure most would get it right.

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

I have often wondered what a '70 Beaumont would've looked like... I dunno if some prototype pictures even exist... I would've liked to build one.

Re: what type of Chevelle would you like to build

I built the chevelle that I wanted. It took me four years to do a complete body off restoration and a lot of hard to find NOS parts.
It still retains it's original 12 bolt and turbo 400 but I added a few cubic inches. I built a 496 and stored the original complete BB engine.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming: "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!"
