Any Love For 2020 COPO Camaro ?

I applied last summer for COPO lottery, only 69 to be built.

I WON A BUILD SLOT !

The thing is about $120,000 with 2 available options (one $25k, the other $30k ??)

Comes with Hoosier tires and parachute. 427 N/A or 350 SC.
No Marina Blue !!!

Kinda like a C8 in that it’s nice but I like my current cars better. Way more $ than C8.

Easy to flip ?

Did they put any resale rules on it like Ford did with the GT and their special builds? Might want to check - you might not be able to flip it for a certain period of time without ramifications.

They say build slot non- transferable. Looks like I can re-sale.

If you're planning to race it in class, you'll have to dump a bunch more money into it to be competitive. You do know they're not street legal, right?

What's really sad about GM, is that the did not build a Street COPO Camaro. They could have made one with a 5.7 S/C engine and a stripped down version, had a winner on their hands, but nope the bean counters at GM like all the "Bling Bling" crap on their new cars.

That's pretty awesome. I wonder how many of the 69 guys are planning a flip right away? I'd have to take it down the track once or twice. I'd think a little provenance would help sell it to the next guy, but @$120k! Small market.

Probably many are planning to store them away for years in hopes of cashing in later in the collector market. That may not work out so well since 69 per year were produced for the last 8 or 9 years and essentially race cars only, not insurable or license-able for street use. A big gamble IMO.

No, didn’t know they’re not street cars. I’d like to be involved with South East Gassers (1967 NHRA rules) but have exactly 0 interest in racing this Camaro.

Google the John Force $ 30k option.
Whatever happened to stealth like real COPOs and 409 bubbletop drive softly and carry a big Chevy V8 ?

Re: Any Love For 2020 COPO Camaro ?

Ok lets see if I got this straight. You entered the COPO lottery without knowing that's it a racecar? And you have 0 interest in racing it? And how did they pick you? The ones I know said GM wanted to see it on a track racing and be a NHRA member. And now you want it to flip it? Only 69 made each year. I say let someone else win the lottery that wants it. May be their dream car. And yes it will cost a lot more to be competitive.

I have 3 days left to decide. Didn’t know GM makes some every year, and rumors Camaro might be killed off.

99% chance I’ll let this opportunity pass.

Thanks for y’all’s comments !

They had one. Itís a ZL1 1LE. Chevrolet has had problems trying to get the Camaro right for the market for a long time. The only people they appeal to are those who place a priority on sportiness. Theyíre just not a practical or inexpensive car in this era.

Re: Any Love For 2020 COPO Camaro ?

The present generation Camaro is in fact a very nice car. There are several trim levels available but these are not built for families. They are personal cars which limit the desire to own one. They are priced rather high given the amount of globally sourced components but are still nice cars. The little 3.6 liter 6 cylinder makes more power than our base 396 engines of yesterday and is quite a bit more efficient and economical. A fully loaded and optioned 6 will run around $40k. An optioned ZL1 will break the bank but is a world class competitor.
