anyone watching barrett jackson?

I know it's not Friday or saturday cars but watching some of these cars.rolling across the block seems the prices are low this year. beautiful 65 bel air for 25k. I think they said they had 130k in receipts. 37 ford roadster for under 30k. LS powered 75 trans am for 25k. Definitely cant build these cars for what they're selling for.
havent paid attention to any chevelles yet. jim

Trucks seem to be the hot ticket this year. Some, especially 4 whl drives, going for big bucks. Some day it will be 4 dr sedans. Well maybe not.

Every one in a while they interrupt the commercials and show some vehicles being auctioned.

Re: anyone watching barrett jackson?

Night before last, a fully restored, numbers matching LS6 hammered for $75k. The TV announcers and I were equally stunned.

Really feel for the owner on sale. Someone got one hell of a deal.

A group of my "car guy" friends and I get together every Friday morning for breakfast at a local joint and this Bel Air was the topic of discussion as well as several other real deals that crossed the blocks. There will most likely be more discussion today at our monthly Winter Garage Get-Together now that many more cars have crossed the blocks.

Re: anyone watching barrett jackson?

seems the restomod are bringing the bigger bucks. And with the availability of aftermarket parts, body, suspension, brakes, LS engine swap parts. A restomod would be easier to put together vs a matching numbers all original or NOS parts build. jim

Re: anyone watching barrett jackson?

BJ sales are interesting because they indicate the trends. I am surprised that Chevy trucks started to be hot a few years ago and are still climbing. 5 years ago restomods and custom rods couldn't get close to the sum of the parts but now buyers are catching on to the value they represent. Restored cars seem to be steady the course but are seldom the big winners anymore.
