Doing this for Eric <oldcutlass>
I think you can have more than one choice if you have more than one car

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

Thank you Dean. I'll be the first with my 468 BBC/T400 powered 67 Oldsmobile Cutlass. It has non stock pearl blue and white pearl roof with pinstripes. 3:08 type O rear end with a new locker just installed and UMI tubular upper and lower control arms, and sway bar. Interior is custom stockish vinyl. It probably falls into the moderately modified category. I guess you can call it a funny looking Chevelle.

Here’s my 1966 Malibu that just has all modern running gear. I was just playing with the hood. It will be White to match soon.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

Had to go with "moderately modified", "race", & "other" as their wasn't a choice for heavily modified.

For the record, 7 old GM products ranging from 1932-1971 (4 are A-Body) and the least is or will be moderately modified. Three are pro tour-ish/street machine builds and 2 are pro street/street machine builds. My F-Body NA pump gas convertible runs 10.70s at 5,000 ft elevation so I claimed it as race even though it's 100% streetable and handles the 70 mile round trip to town and slow speed cruising with ease. If I had to lump them into a broad category it would heavily modified. Regretfully they are not all finished (is a build ever really finished?) but 3 are done, 1 ~45%, 1 ~30%, and two are accumulating parts/waiting in the wings...

I completed this last year (but we all know we are never done). Was a 350 auto car. Added all SS options (wheels, dash, suspension, Cowl induction hood). Also added 454/Muncie, power windows/locks, front shoulder harnesses, modern radio. I did everything myself (except the muncie rebuild and applying paint) with the help of TC. It’s mildly modified do to hurst comp shifter, headers, intake, wilwood brakes, and modern radio. Still need to fix AC and install 3:31 posi unit.

I'm somewhere between "moderately modified" and "race".

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

i went into the "other" category.
1973 Camaro 333HP 350, 2004R, 12 bolt Moser. The guy that put this car together dumped a ton of money into it, i think for like autocross. Had hotchkis suspension on it when i bought it, which is long gone since it rode like the axles were welded to the frame. With stock-ish suspension now, it still actually does handle really well.
1970 Monte Carlo, 400sb, 2004R, 12 bolt peg leg. The rear in this car is the only remaining stock driveline part out of both cars. This car handles like a loaded dumptruck.
neither are nothing special, but really enjoy driving old cars.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

I don't know where mine fits either. 600hp 502 BBC that has multi-port electronic fuel injection with a serpentine accessory drive system, but still retains a stock clutch fan. It has aftermarket air conditioning and a hydroboost brake booster with stock disc/drum brakes. The frame is a '72 Buick Syklark that has been boxed, fully welded, and reinforced. It has a 6 speed T-56 with a twin disc hydraulic clutch, an aluminum drive shaft, and Moser rear with an Eaton Truetrac with 4.10 gears; but I modified things so that I can use the stock console between my stock bucket seats. At first glance it looks like a stock LeMans Blue Chevelle SS with Cragar S/S rims, but it has many modifications.

It's a moderately modified, stock appearing, day 2 car that is a total blast to drive. Well, when it runs... It has a habit of breaking, but I should have it running again this spring.

I voted for Just Looks Like Original and Moderately Modified. I hope I did that correctly.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

Mine is pretty close to Pure Stock, however I have upgraded the Distributor to a MSD Ready To Run for more dependability. It looks fairly close to stock with the extra wires tucked back behind the block... I've also installed Headers and fabbed up my own version of a Chambered Exhaust.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

Mine is 100% stock appearing. Can't really call it modified or day 2. I drive it everywhere.
But its also a race car

..but I guess it would be categorized as "Just looks like original"

My Chevelle is original, Nova is modified, coupe will be original and 57 is heavily modified. I like them all, some just prefer to be original. I wouldn't kick anything out of my garage.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

To be clear I chose PURE STOCK because the motor, trans, rearend are original. Most steel has been replaced or repaired but stock appearance. Options are original ( replaced or repaired) but added correct power steering. Color was Blue/Blue/white and now triple black. 15 inch rally wheels with radials. Interior is now buckets with console but correct for its 68 year. Suspension is stock with the addition of a larger front and added rear sway bar with Bilsteins shocks.

So is it Pure Stock or Stock appearing? You don't have a selection for that.

Re: What Type Of Car Do You Own?

Currently, mine is "none of the above"...

But the plan (for today) is "Just Looks like Original"...

I am adding disc brakes, 15" steel wheels, its gota Hurst shifter with a "stock" repro handle, and a few upgraded suspension parts...

Who knows, by the time I get it up and running, things may change...

Here's my "build thread".
